Last week I touched on the subject of aligning your firm and staff with a reputable Voucher Counseling Service, one who can seamlessly assist with the additional processes required in order to obtain any of the benefits allotted for your client.
Today I’d like to expound on the Return-to-Work Supplement Program (RTWSP). I know what some of you may be thinking, great another acronym and additional process my staff will need training on. Rest assured we can lend that hand and process this benefit expeditiously.
There was an article I came across that not only stirred my curiosity but was a bit concerning to me. The subject being the RTWSP which is a $120 million dollar fund payed for by Employers of the State of CA each and every year since it’s inception. It’s an additional benefit which can be issued if your case meets the right criteria. The program was executed post SB 863 under Labor Code section 139.48. My concern was that year after year we’ve left 10s of millions on the table and most importantly, the additional monies did not go to the most important people, the injured, but rather back into the fund as a rollover. The Employers profit from this and not the injured so now we have an added focus and goal to make sure that we reach that ceiling each and every year.
This benefit may provide added relief for your client. We listen, care for and are not desensitized to the frustration and pain these unfortunate people go through, the least we can do is fight for any monies on the table and make sure they get the most aid possible.
