PTSD and Work Comp

by | May 23, 2018 | Uncategorized

I recently came across a good article from Business Insurance involving Workplace Tragedies creating a new perspective on Work Comp within our Nation. In light of the horrible event that took the lives of 14 souls while seriously injuring dozens at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino; 80 employees in all were affected by this tragic act of violence and terror, and all of the surviving members are being haunted by PTSD.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and depression are very serious and complex psychological additions to many workers compensation claims. This is an issue that has limited medical science, compliance and law. One would say that there is definitely an argument when it comes to taking care of employees whose lives have been affected by such a horrible event.

From professional athletes to police and fire personnel and convenience store clerks, there is no limitation. To say the least, PTSD does not discriminate based on title, position or tax bracket. It is a condition, or an illness if you will, that has now become considered a major public health issue and sure to deliver a very tough path in litigation due to how gray the topic really is.
Rehabilitating the affected is arduous and complex. There is a strong possibility that a person cannot return to their normal work habits, and at times the environment alone can trigger PTSD.

We are committed in helping our clients with better schools and honest certifications in hopes of providing a new skill set and motivation to get back into the work environment, and to not be haunted by the ill affects of PTSD.

Together, we can deliver better outcomes but most importantly, we can help our clients have a better lease on life. One they can direct and control without fear.
