As we are midway through March I wanted to take a moment to promote National Brain Injury Awareness Month. Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) can happen to anyone, from people involved in motor vehicle accidents, construction workers, couriers, to simply kids having fun at the park. TBI can change one’s life as well as their loved one’s in the blink of an eye.
In relation to workers compensation, there is higher risk in suffering a TBI event during the scope of work, so through promoting awareness we can all help lessen the probability of this type of horrific event. We all know that an employer must properly train and promote safety measures for their employees and employees should follow up on these safeguards but I’m curious to know how many on either side really are? There is an alarming increase of TBI leading to death with construction workers, so with commerce and economy on the rise there is a scaling indicator that we will be defending more and more of these unfortunate cases. Working together to avoid a catastrophic event is key but of course there are those instances in which all of the training in the world cannot avoid. For these cases, in our arena we are seeing constant denial of care which, sad to say, in the end does not help anyone. Let’s all do our part in lending a moral hand, share our wisdom and acknowledge those who have been affected by catastrophic head trauma. While this complex injury may not always lead to a successful rehabilitation please know that we here at Laura M Wilson and Associates will do everything in our power to execute and deliver the best outcome possible. Besides being knowledgeable in Vocational Rehabilitation we are passionate about what we do and we thank you for your confidence in allowing our passion to work with you.
